Terms of use
These terms are an agreement between you and Lewis Betteridge, the individual developer who makes PocketFull ("we", "us"). By using PocketFull you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our privacy policy explains what we do with your information.
1. Who can use PocketFull
You need to be 13 or older. If you're under the age at which you can agree to these terms yourself where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to them for you.
2. What PocketFull is, and what it isn't
PocketFull teaches the language travellers need most, in the time they have. It's free to use. We may add paid plans later; if we do, they'll come with their own terms, and we'll tell you before anything you use now starts to cost money.
Courses and translations. PocketFull teaches everyday language for travel, and its translations are made by AI. Neither is a substitute for a professional interpreter. Don't rely on PocketFull alone where a mistake could matter, such as a medical emergency, allergies, medicines, legal or official matters, or safety. In an emergency, call local emergency services.
If you find a mistake, please tell us at hello@pocketfull.net.
3. Your account
An account is optional. If you make one, use an email address you control and keep access to it to yourself: anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account. One account per person. You can delete your account at any time in the app.
4. Using PocketFull fairly
Please don't:
- try to get around the daily translation limits, or use the translator other than through the app, such as from scripts or other services;
- use the translator to produce content that's illegal or that harms others;
- interfere with the service, try to reach other people's accounts or data, or overload it;
- copy the courses or the app to make or sell your own product.
We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If we do, we'll tell you why unless the law or safety stops us.
5. Your content
What you type into PocketFull stays yours. You let us process it to provide the service: for example, sending text to be translated, or syncing your progress. If you choose to share your study data, you also let us use it as the privacy policy describes.
6. Ours
PocketFull, its courses, design and name belong to us. You may use them for your own learning. The fonts are used under the SIL Open Font License, and other parts belong to their owners.
7. Availability and changes
PocketFull works offline once opened, but Translate, sign-in, syncing and spoken answers need a connection and may sometimes be unavailable. We may change or stop parts of PocketFull. If we stop the whole service, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to copy your study log.
8. Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms removes rights you have by law that can't be removed, including the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live.
Apart from those rights, PocketFull is provided "as is": we can't promise it will be free of mistakes or always available, and to the extent the law allows we aren't responsible for loss that comes from relying on its courses or translations, or from it being unavailable. Where our responsibility can be limited, it's limited to resupplying the service or, if you paid for it, refunding what you paid in the last 12 months.
9. App stores
If you got PocketFull from the App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and the store's own terms also apply. Apple and Google aren't responsible for PocketFull or its support. For the App Store version, Apple's standard licence agreement applies alongside these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if a change matters. If you keep using PocketFull after a change, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can stop using it and delete your account.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protections of your own country's consumer law.
